“We’ll make the Games a success,” says an enthusiastic Prateek Manocha, an engineering student at Kurukshetra.
Manocha is attending training sessions during his vacations. Coming from an engineering background, he wanted a duty in his field of specialization but was given a duty in the Uniform Distribution Centre.
But the disappointed has not dampened his spirit. “Big or small, I will perform my duty properly and with full dedication,” said Manocha.
According to trainers, 95 per cent of the volunteers are students.
For 18-year-old Purva Ghosh, being a Games volunteer is all about gaining experience. The BSc. student is excited as she will get to meet people from all over the world. “The games are an international event that will give us a lot of exposure,” she said.
The DU student underwent training in CWG history, communication skills and people with special abilities.
“We have been taught how to overcome language barriers, through audio-visual aids. Also, special emphasis has been laid on manners and etiquette,” Ghosh added.
