FORMER STATE Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said Mahatma Gandhi treated non-violence as religion, truth as God and gave importance to communal harmony but was assassinated by those who could not understand this philosophy.
These people believed in spreading hatred among masses and their main aim was to divide people on the basis of caste, creed and religion, Singh added.
Singh stated this while speaking at a district level youth convention organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra here on Wednesday. Nehru Yuva Kendra national vice president Meenakshi Natrajan presided over.
Speaking at the convention Natrajan said Nehru Yuva Kendra conducted 2.25 lakh youth mandal across the country and it was the largest non-political social organisation across the globe. “Entire credit of which goes to late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi,” she added.
Earlier, Digvijay Singh and Meenakshi Natrajan inaugurated the convention by garlanding the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and Swami Vivekanand. Khilchipur MLA Priyavrat Singh, Nehru Yuva Kendra Director MP Mandal, KL Khanna, regional convener Arun Saravgi were present on the occasion.
District convener, Nehru Yuva Kendra Dr Surendra Shukla conducted the programme.
