DISTRICT-LEVEL inter-college competitions for the Youth Festival are being organised in various colleges of the City from October 4.
Sarojini Naidu Girls College hosted events of the first day. Hamidia College student Sangeeta Goswami won the first position in solo (classic), while BSSS student Indrajeet Singh came first in solo western.
Sarojini Naidu students won the first position in Indian and western group song competitions. Megha Verma of the same college won the first position in non-percussion category and Rupali Singh stood first in sugam sangeet.
BSSS hosted the programme on October 5, which included solo and group dance contests. In solo dance (classical), Sonam Channa of BSSS won the first position. Sarojini Naidu student Vijita Singh (kathak) won the second position and the third position went to Gitanjali student Gita Mishra (kathak).
Sant Hirdaram Girls College hosted competitions on the third day on October 6. Debate, elocution and quiz contests were held. Various City colleges participated in the competitions.
Maharani Lakshmi Bai (MLB) College will host drama and skit competitions on October 7, while Hamidia College will host rangoli, poster-making and cartoon-making competitions. The competitions of Youth Festival (district-level) will conclude on the same day.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) Association of Barkatullah University Institute of Technology (BUIT) organised group discussion, IT-based quiz and extempore competitions in September.
The events were organised to develop communication skills of the students, informed BUIT director SC Soni. Neha Rayate, Dushyant Singh and Ruchi Mukesh Kumar emerged winners in extempore.
Theatre workshop
XLLENCE UMANG, the culture club of the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE), will hold a theatre workshop and an inter-college theatre festival in December. Nationally renowned theatre personalities from outside the State and from Bhopal Doordarshan and Bharat Bhavan will be invited on the occasion.
Saplings planted
STUDENTS AND staff members of Shri Satya Sai College for Women (BHEL) planted about 1000 saplings recently in their college premises and in the nearby slums and SOS Village. The plants included mango, lemon, guava, pomegranate, neem, eucalyptus among others.
