A YOUTH was found murdered in Govindpura on Saturday late afternoon. The body bore several injury marks inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon.
According to police, the body was lying in the nullah near Bajrang Market. A woman passing through the area spotted the body and informed the police.
The deceased was later identified as Balvinder alias Bindar, 22, son of Pratap Singh Pahalwan, a resident of E Sector Barkheda. There were injury marks on the deceased’s right eye, head and back.
The body was lying upside down in the nullah. Balvinder had left the house on Friday morning and had not returned home after that. His sister had informed the police and subsequently a case of missing person was registered.
The body has been sent for post-mortem. The police are interrogating Balvinder’s friends and local residents. There is no clue yet about the identity of the killer.
Balvinder worked as contract labourer with the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BEHL). Several criminal cases were registered against him in the past and he had also been externed from district limits earlier.
The police are interrogating local history-sheeters and trying to find out if Balvinder had enmity with anyone. The police have registered a case of murder and are investigating. The hunt is on for the killer.
