After raping her, he allegedly threw her from a bridge on railway tracks at Chipyana, police said. The girl reportedly went missing on February 5.

“I lured her to my house by offering her Rs 30 and peanuts. I raped her there. I was frightened when she bled and decided to take her to a doctor,” Maqsood told the police.

“My family members had gone to attend a marriage ceremony that day,” he added. Maqsood took the victim in a bus to Khurja, but had to return to Ghaziabad as his family called him up to hand over the house keys, police said.

“I decided to end the matter. So, I pushed her from the bridge on the railway tracks and ran towards my house,” he said.

On the morning of February 6, locals rushed her to MMG Hospital. She has sustained a hip-joint fracture and severe head injuries.

Police have lodged a case under sections of attempt to murder and abduction.

“It’s shocking. This man has almost jeopardised girl's life after sexual assault. If the medical examination confirms rape, we will book the accused under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, too,” said SSP Raghubir Lal.
