Youth rapes minor, sets her on fire

A minor girl was allegedly raped and later set ablaze by a youth in village Bhatia under Damoh-Hata police station, police said on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old victim was raped on Monday night by a youth identified as Kallu Singh, when she went to an agricultural field in Damoh, they said adding that she was set on fire by the accused fearing the villagers.

Later, the girl was rushed to the district hospital in a serious condition where she succumbed to her burn injuries, police said.

A case has been registered against Singh, who is absconding after the incident, they added.
