After claiming his first junior grand slam and becoming the number one junior in the world, Yuki Bhambri now has his sight set on becoming the top men's tennis player in the next five years.
The 16-year-old discussed his plans at a promotional event on Friday.
"I have reached the pinnacle of my junior career and now want to shift to the bigger league and prove my mettle," said Bhambri.
"We have seen in the past that Indians have not done well in men's singles, so it is very important for Yuki to keep focus and continue to work hard. He is a talented boy and I am sure his aim of being the best in the world will be fulfilled," said former Davis Cup captain, Ramesh Krishnan, who had managed to break into top 30 in singles rankings.
Yuki, who has improved as a player over the last year, says he is still working on certain aspects.
"I have worked on my serve and have become a more mature player. I have also grown a few inches and that has improved my reach. I now need to work on my fitness and build more muscles and strength for the senior circuit," he added.
