During her visit to Islamabad, Zia will meet with President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to discuss a range of issues, a ministry statement said.

Bangladesh, once part of Pakistan, proclaimed independence and started a separatist war on March 26, 1971.

Bangladeshis won the war nine months later when Pakistani soldiers surrendered in Dhaka.

However, the two Islamic nations later agreed to improve relations and since then have worked closely to further improve political and economic relations.

The two countries also often consult each other on international issues.
