Anti incumbency, illegal land deals, Gujjars agitation, etc, may weigh heavily on the BJP government in Rajasthan which will go to polls on December 4, 2008.
The Congress has already launched an attack on the BJP and released a chargesheet containing 108 allegations of corruption, allotment of the land on cheap rates, death of 68 Gujjars due to police firing, etc.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress chief C.P. Joshi said, “We are ready to face the BJP, which symbolises corruption.”
“We will get support of the people who are fed up with the policies of the government and favour a change in Rajasthan,” Dr Joshi said.
State BJP president Om Mathur, however, expressed his confidence to retain the power. “The BJP government created a record of the uniform development in all areas in 32 districts which was never done by the Congress,” he said.
Interestingly, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will be an important player and its presence in 188 seats may damage the prospects of Congress and BJP candidates in Bharatpur, Alwar, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Swaimadhopur, Bikaner and Ganganagar.
