Nothing could stop Bhairulal from achieving his dream. The 18-year-old, who comes from a village which lacks basic facilities, cleared Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2017, the results for which was declared on Sunday.
Bhairulal, who belongs to a modest farmer family in Bhilwara, scored All India Rank (AIR) 1143 in OBC category and AIR 6750 in general category in JEE (Advanced).
“My father used to cultivate five bighas of land and sell milk. My mother, Seema Devi, worked as an NREGA labourer in the village till a few years ago to lend a helping hand in earning our bread and butter and educate me,” he said. Adding, “I would not have been able to succeed without the support my parents, who have never been to school.”
The journey from seeking primary education to qualifying for JEE Advanced was not an easy task. He studied in a primary school in the village before going to Kota. “After I scored 88% in Class 10, an engineering graduate from my village suggested that I go to Kota for coaching. My school teachers took me to Kota two years ago,” said Bhairulal, who has spent most of his life in a mud house.
He completed his Class 11 and 12 from a private school in Kota and scored 83%. “I took admission in Allen Career Institute in Kota for IIT-JEE coaching and they gave me a 50% concession in my fees,” Bhairulal said, who now wants to pursue a course in mechanical or computer science engineering at the IITs.

{{/usCountry}}“After doing a BTech from IIT, I plan to take the Union Public Service Commission exam. If I succeed in clearing that I will encourage other children from my village to seek an education,” he said.
In the last few years, Bhairulal’s family’s financial condition has improved after his uncle and mother started helping on the farm and his father bought more cattle. His parents have now constructed a pucca house.
He added that his brothers, Mahaveer and Rahul who are studying in Class 10 and Class 12, will not face the same difficulties that he had to endure.
