The Jodhpur Range Police have detained 11 people for taking money to provide proxy candidates for those appearing for written exams for recruitment in government jobs. The police said that three men were the mastermind of the gang.
At a press conference on Wednesday, inspector general (Jodhpur Range) Hawa Singh Ghumaria said that in the coming days, examinations for recruitment to the posts of constables, lab assistants, librarians and lower division clerk (LDC) are to be held. The police were getting information about a gang, which provided proxy candidates who could pass the recruitment exams.
He said after investigating the police started a mobile surveillance of the phones of the main accused Bhikharam Vishnoi, who runs Anupam’s classes, and his associates Arun Panwar and Suresh Vishnoi. The surveillance revealed that members of the gang were editing photographs of original candidates with matching faces, based on examination documents.
They planned to paste the edited photo on the admit cards of the candidates. They were charging between Rs5 and ₹7 lakh for the job.
Ghumaria said that on the basis of the initial investigation, the three were questioned. Bhikharam told the police about the modus operandi of the gang. He said that some bright students, who had studied at his coaching centre, were in touch with him and they solved the papers instead of the original candidates. He also gave the names of some candidates, who had contacted him to pass the recruitment exams.

One such applicant Ramdeen had made a deal to pass the recruitment examination for the post of librarian for ₹5 lakh. He was caught with ₹2 lakh. Similarly, another candidate, Raghuveer Singh, was caught with ₹2 lakh 9 thousand. Ramesh Prajapat, who was editing the photos, has also been detained. Ghumaria said that a case is being filed at the Sardarpura police station against the 11 people who have been detained.
Police have seized the CPU of the computer used, examination-related documents, mobile phones, electronic devices, and other materials.
