Driving licence process to be made online in Rajasthan

Rajasthan transport minister Yunus Khan on Monday announced that the government will start accepting applications online for driving licences in the next six months. At present, the faciltiy is vailable only at Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur and Dudu.

Khan was in Jaipur on Monday to inaugurate the new licence hall and online driving licence process at regional transport office.

Khan said the government was making efforts for transparency, paperless working and more facilities to public through information technology.

“Road safety is a top priority for the government and here motor driving school and fitness center has an important role to play. New rules and regulations have being enected for driving schools. We have fixed the required land, indoor and outdoor trainers’ eligibility, resources and parameters. For any motor driving school to get registered, these parametres wuld have to met,” said Khan.

Transport commissioner Gayatri Rathore informed that licence process across the country is being done by Sarthi software provided by National Informatics Centre (NIC), where necessary changes has been done keeping in view the ground realities of the state. She said like driving licence, vehicle registration process will also be made online in one month.

The minister also added that vehicle permits would be reviewed across the state soon as vehicle life in comparison to other states is higher in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan roadways will not be closed and its employees will be taken care, said Khan.

How to apply for licence

Apply online at www.transport.rajasthan.gov.in. Click on ‘driving licence’ and then on ‘new learning licence’, where details like name have address have to be keyed in. Also upload photo and signature. After payment of fees, an application number will be generated. The applicant will then be alloted a date and time to reach the transport office for verification of ducument and a test.
