The state education department, planning transfers and postings of its employees, has decided to give priority to the wives of army men in the exercise.
A large number of transfers are expected in the education department after the state government lifted the ban on transfers of employees in all government departments on March 12. Over nine lakh employees, including two lakh employees of the education department, are expected to benefit from the decision.
Earlier, there was a ban on the transfers since September 2016.
Sources in the education department said that education minister Vasudev Devnani in an informal directive has asked the officials to give priority to the wives of serving army men while transferring them to their home district. The move will benefit over 500 women employees of the department, they added.
Commenting on the initiative, Devnani said, “We will make efforts to post wives of army men in their home district.”
The lifting of the ban by the government is being seen as an effort to appease the employee in the election year.
Earlier in 2016, the education department had started the process of naming government schools after the names of army martyrs and those who have shown bravery in battlefield. The department has already named over 250 government schools after the name of army martyrs.
Besides, the government opened Rajasthan’s second Sainik School in Jhunjhunu in May this year. At present, the school is being run from a temporary building, but the land and other resources have been allotted by the department. The first Sainik School in the state was set up in Chittorgarh.
