Gujjars led by their leader Kirori Singh Bainsla today began a sit-in in Gazipur in Rajasthan's Dausa district demanding a quota for the community in government jobs.
Bainsla said they would be march towards Jaipur if their demand for reservation was not met by March 26.
"Over 1.5 lakh people would proceed towards Jaipur from Ajmer, Pushkar, Naseerabad, Alwar, Dausa, Sikandarabad, Sikrai, Manpur and surrounding areas if the state government does not fulfil our demand by March 26," Bainsla told reporters.
"It would be a peaceful march in Gandhian way, but it is going to be a massive gathering in support of our demand," he said.
"We want reservation, anyhow. It is for the government to decide the way to provide us the quota. If our demand is met within time, youths of our community would benefit," Bainsla said.
"The government has played with our sentiments but we are not going to tolerate it anymore," he said.
The community had held a meeting in the town before beginning the later sit-in.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dausa Gopal Singh told PTI over phone that a few dozen persons were present at the sit-in and around 3,000 people were there at the meeting.
