Jamiat to file writ against surya namaskar

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a Muslim body, has decided to file a writ in the Rajasthan high court on February 25 against the introduction of surya namaskar in government schools. The oragnisation has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the role of Alwar superintendent of police and other officials in the incident in which a youth was shot by Tapukada police on October 20, 2014.

According to information, all Muslim organisation of the state will gather in Jaipur on March 3 to decide the future course of action.

General secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind state unit Abdul Waid Khatri said Muslim organisations of the state would meet in Jaipur to chalk out a plan about their protest against surya namaskar at government schools. He said after Arif was killed, chief minister Vasundhara Raje had assured his family members to fulfil their demands. Raje had also asked them to meet her in Jaipur. Till now, the victim’s family members were still waiting to meet the CM, he said.

Khatri said, “We are still waiting for CM reply regarding discussion on introducing surya namaskar at government schools. It is against our religion and government should withdraw orders. We are going to file a writ in Rajasthan High Court on February 25 requesting to ban the orders.” He criticised the statements of CM and state education minister in favour of surya namaskar.
