Lavish wedding in Jaipur

Shivraj Singh, son of former Jodhpur ruler Gaj Singh, tied the knot with Kumari Gayatri Singh Pal of Askote (Uttarakhand) at a lavish ceremony on Thursday night.

Shivraj Singh, son of former Jodhpur ruler Gaj Singh, tied the knot with Kumari Gayatri Singh Pal of Askote (Uttarakhand) at a lavish ceremony on Thursday night.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje were present at the wedding at Hotel Rambagh Palace.

Shivraj wore a beige achkan and saffron safa and Gayatri Kumari a traditional Rajputi poshak. The groom rode in the family buggy drawn by three horses. An attendant stood at the back of the buggy, led by a colourfully caparisoned elephant.

The pheras took place in the Zenana Lawns after high tea in the Naksha Gardens. Gaj Singh said, “The occasion is of happiness for Shivraj and our daughter-in-law. With people’s blessings everything will go well.”

The guests included former king of Nepal Gyanendra Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia and his wife Priyadarshini, Usha Raje and Yashodhara Raje Scindia from the Gwalior royal family, the king of Bhutan and his family, former Union minister Jaswant Singh, Jai Singh of Pratapgarh, Krishna Kumar Singh of Churhat and his wife Dr Sanjay Singh of Amethi and his wife, Sir Evelyn and Lady Rothschild, Pushpraj Singh of Rewa, Bhanuprkash Singh of Narsingarh, Vijendra Singh of Nalagarh, Ranjit Singh Gaekwad of Baroda.
