Kishorilal Meena, who works at the University of Rajasthan, was going to work and took the risk of crossing the overflowing nullah near Kartarpura, which was overflowing due to regular rainfall since Saturday, and was being swept away.

“It was raining and I was sitting at home when I heard someone screaming ‘bachao, bachao (save, save)’. My gunman, Madho Sharma, was taking a bath and I asked him to look out. Sharma rushed out and saw a person and his bike were stuck in the railings. He held on to the man,” said Mangal Ram.

Meanwhile, Ram’s supporters came out. “The flow of water was strong and it was difficult for Sharma to keep holding on to the person, so I asked my supporters to get a rope. But they could not find a rope immediately. I asked them to get my turban and with the help of the turban we saved the person,” the MLA added.

Last year, too, a youth named Ayush had been swept away, along with his car, in the Kartarpura nullah. His body was recovered after a week.
