Earlier, responding to a Hindustan Times report on the death on January 5, the district administration denied that it was a starvation death.

Principal Secretary (Relief) Tanmay Kumar said, “On the basis of a news report, detailed explanation has been sought from the collector. He has already sent a report, but the government has asked for more details.”

Chief of the state’s opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party, Arun Chaturvedi said a state-level fact-finding delegation would visit Chittorgarh and other drought-hit areas.
