The appeal comes after Shambhu Lal Regar allegedly hacked a migrant Muslim labourer to death in Rajsamand and burned his body last week.

He also uploaded a video of his gruesome act on social media along with other videos where he made inflammatory remarks against a section of the society.

Situation remained tense in Udaipur as Section 144 of CrPC (prohibiting assembly) was imposed in Udaipur and Rajsamand on Thursday.

In a joint statement, the organisations said enmity was being created between Dalits and Muslims through glorification of the accused.

Shambhu was influenced by some communal organisations, alleged the statement signed by representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Ambedkarite Party of India and Forum for Democracy and Communal Amity among others.

The statement also demanded that authorities should stop those glorifying the accused, making inflammatory speeches and indulging in rumour mongering on social media.

Anil Kotwal of Dr Ambedkar Welfare Society said it was the responsibility of the state to allay the fear and insecurity that has gripped a section of the society.
