BJP legislator from Ramgarh Gyan Dev Ahuja demanded that three people, arrested on charges of lynching suspected cow smuggler Rakbar Khan in Alwar, be released, calling them ‘gau rakshaks’.
Ahuja said home minister Gulab Chand Kataria has accepted that Rakbar died in police custody.
Paramjeet Singh, Dharmendra Yadav and Vijay Kumar were arrested for allegedly lynching Rakbar at Lalawandi village in Ramgarh area of Alwar district on July 20 night. Rakbar of Kol village in Haryana and his partner Aslam Khan were taking two cows when vigilantes attacked them.
Aslam fled the scene and Rakbar sustained major injuries. Police allegedly took about three hours to take Rakbar to the Ramgarh community healthcare centre, which is nearly 4 km from the incident spot. Eyewitnesses have alleged that Khan was dead by the time he was taken to the health centre. Kataria has ordered a judicial inquiry into the case.
After recovering from an eye infection, Ahuja visited his constituency after a month; he went to the spot of alleged lynching. “I am in politics and representing people of Ramgarh for past 25 years and during this time not a single incident of mob lynching occurred,” Ahuja told reporters.
“It is unfortunate that home minister Shri Kataria, DGP of Rajasthan, and additional chief secretary (home) visited the area but didn’t consult the local BJP in-charge. Had they done so, truth would have been in front of their eyes.”

{{/usCountry}}Ahuja demanded that a case of cow smuggling be registered against Rakbar and Aslam. “If the government fails to do so, then the people of the area won’t take it well and will file a complaint in the court,” he asserted.
“After such a hue and cry, only one assistant sub-inspector of Alwar police was suspended for error in judgement. Decisions of such importance can’t be taken by an ASI. All the officers involved in this carelessness should be suspended.”
