Stampede at CISF job camp kills one

More than 60,000 youths from nine states had come to attend the job camp for 400 posts in various categories, report KS Tomar and Veer Sain.

One aspirant died and another received serious injuries in a stampede following the cancellation of a recruitments camp for 400 posts in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) near Amber fort at the outskirts of the city on Monday.

More than 60,000 youths from nine states had come to attend the job camp for 400 posts in various categories, including cooks, helpers, fitters, etc.

Ramji Lal, 20, from Kishorpura village of Jhunjhunun district lost his life while another youth Amit Kumar from Haryana is said to be in a critical condition.

According to the CISF officials, they did not expect such a huge turn out which made it impossible for them to manage such a massive attendance.

District Collector Akhil Arora said "CISF officials did not inform the administration about the recruitments on time and aspirants numbers went very high which made it impossible for them to manage the crowd leading to a stampede."

The CISF officials did not allow entry to all the candidates and above all, they had not done proper barricading, Anil Paliwal, Superintendent of Police (Jaipur City South), told

"The security guards at the entrance gate could not control the youths who started jumping the fencing to join the other candidates which was the main reason of the stampede," he added.

"The guilty CISF officials should be immediately punished as they didn't give any valid reason for the cancellation of the CISF camp," said irate guardians of some of the youth. According to the youths, they were not informed by anyone about the cancellation of the camp.
