Chief minister Vasundhara Raje launched the scheme by distributing LED bulbs to three sarpanchs.

Raje said it was an important step taken at the right time to distribute LED bulbs to domestic electricity consumers for saving energy.

The need to adopt new technology is to reduce consumption in terms of units, she added.

Under this programme, each family in the state will get a maximum of three LED bulbs of 7 watts each for one-time payment of Rs 120 per bulb or through 12 instalments of Rs 10 each to be paid with the monthly electricity bill.

The scheme will cover 85 lakh domestic consumers in a phased manner.

These bulbs will be distributed door-to-door and will also be available at e-Mitra kiosks.

The market price of these bulbs ranges between Rs 400 and Rs 500.

He hoped that with the use these LED bulbs, power consumption will fall drastically.

A MoU was signed between EESL and the Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur discoms for implementation of this scheme.
