5-year-old girl strangulated by two under-teen boys

Two under-teen boys were detained by the police today for strangulating a five-year-old girl with whom they were playing at an under-construction building in Kolkata, police sources said.

10-year-old Jahangir and 11-year-old Suman allegedly strangulated Jhumjhum on the tenth floor of the building from where the body was found two days ago following a complaint by her mother that she was missing, they said.

The post mortem report said the girl was hit on the head but had died of strangulation.

The two boys were picked up and during questioning it emerged that they hit the girl on the head making her unconscious. Scared that they would be scolded at home, they strangulated her and left her body in the building, the sources added.
