“There are still plenty of false voters in the revised electoral roll. If the EC wants, we can provide lists in bundles. The existing voters’ list is not foolproof. But despite several requests and reminders the EC has not taken any action,” CPI(M) state secretary and Left Front chairman Biman Bose said at Alimuddin Street.

Bose also questioned the impartiality of the EC while referring to the latter’s decision to disallow use of loudspeakers during election campaign at places where higher secondary examinations were over.

“The day we made this appeal a senior Trinamool leader held a meeting with the EC. We have a confirmed report. I am not implying that the EC took the decision under pressure from the Trinamool but this angle can be explored,” said Bose.

“The decision to place an appeal to the EC was unanimously taken at an all-party meeting. But the EC did not send its report on the matter to West Bengal Pollution Control Board or Calcutta high court which monitor sound pollution,” said Bose.

Asked how he felt about chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee launching his own website 42 years after the CPI(M) opposed introduction of computers in government offices, Bose said, “When Life Insurance Corporation of India first introduced computers in 1969, we raised a demand that nobody should be retrenched. Bose spoke at length on the manifesto and achievements of the Left Front. “A malicious campaign has started to prove that government did nothing. But central government records say a different story,” he said.
