Class 11 boy hangs himself while video chatting with girlfriend in Bengal

Police said the boy, who stayed in a rented accommodation, hanged himself on Wednesday night probably after quarrelling with his girlfriend during the chat.

A 17-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself while video chatting with his girlfriend on Whatsapp at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, police said on Thursday.

The boy, a Class 11 student, took the step on Wednesday night probably after quarrelling with his girlfriend during the chat, police said, adding that the boy used to stay in a rented accommodation.

“As he did not come out in the morning, his friends broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. They informed us. The boy was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,” an officer said.

A complaint against the girl has been lodged by the boy’s family members, he added.
