"A study of the withdrawal of nomination by candidates on the last day reveals that Trinamool Congress and Congress have reached a secret understanding for a one-to-one contest against Left Front nominees," Left Front chairman Biman Bose said.

There was a secret understanding between the two parties in the 2008 panchayat elections too, Bose said after a Left Front meeting.

"Dubious means and force were applied to get nominations withdrawn," Bose said apparently targeting the Trinamool Congress for the withdrawal of nominations by Congress candidates in a number of municipalities.

"Trinamool wants to remain ahead of Congress in the poll results," he said. Bose claimed that since the last day of withdrawal of nomination passed yesterday, the two parties would try to make further adjustments to avoid a split in anti-Left votes.

He said that leaders of the constituents had expressed fear at the Left Front meeting.
