A Yangon-bound Air India flight got delayed on Monday after the latch of a window exit got accidentally opened up by a passenger moments before takeoff, airport officials said.

Even as the IC-727 flight with 139 passengers on board was on the runway at around 10 am, a Buddhist monk pulled the latch of an over-wing window exit triggering an emergency alarm, they said.

The plane was then evacuated for safety drills and attention resulting in the delay, airport officials said adding the flight would leave later in the day.
