He had done it once to his Aussie counterpart Steve Waugh on the cricket field and today former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly kept West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi waiting during a book launch programme of Union minister Shashi Tharoor.
"We all are waiting for the prince of cricket to join us," Gandhi said, bringing back memories of the epic 2001 series when as captain, Ganguly kept Waugh waiting during the toss.
Ganguly had later said that when he was going for the toss when he found his team blazer missing.
Apparently, the iconic cricketer did not inform the organisers that he would not be able to make it as everyone including Tharoor, the minister of State for External Affairs, kept waiting till the end of the programme when in the vote of thanks it was announced that Ganguly would not arrive.
Earlier, cricket historian Boria Majumdar, speaking about Indo-Pak cricket and diplomacy said, "We are waiting for Ganguly to join the discussion...he will give a perspective from a cricketer's point of view."
The book launched was 'Shadows Across The Playing Field - 60 years of India-Pakistan Cricket' written by Tharoor and Shaharyar Khan, former Pakistan foreign secretary who also served PCB as chairman.
