Govt-Trinamool Cong talks on Singur soon

The West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee invites the Trinamool Congress for talks with the state government on the Singur impasse at the secretariat.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday invited the Trinamool Congress for talks with the state government on the Singur impasse at the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

"The chief minister wrote a letter to Mamata Banerjee during the day informing her of the time and venue of the discussion. The talks will be held tomorrow afternoon," sources at the secretariat here said.

However, it was not immediately known if Bhattacharjee would be present at the meeting or depute his Industry Minister Nirupam Sen for talks on behalf of the government.
This was the second letter written by the chief minister to the Trinamool chief since yesterday.

Earlier in the day, Mamata Banerjee said that leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee would hold talks with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on the demand of the return of land, acquired by the government, to the "unwilling farmers".

Mamata said in a letter to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, a copy of which was made available to the press today, said, "In the interest of the people and to keep the door open for getting their demands fulfilled, I am sending my colleague and leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee to you on the demand of return of the land of the unwilling farmers at Singur."

Mamata's letter was in response to the Buddhadeb's proposal for talks in view of the proposed indefinite agitation by the Trinamool Congress at Singur from August 24 demanding return of the 400 acres of land.
