Justice Dipankar Datta also directed the SP, Murshidabad, to provide police protection to Santu Singha, who was allegedly threatened by Kabir.

Kabir was attached to the company, but after he became the state minister Singha took over charge. After a few months, Singha discovered serious irregularities in the company’s accounts and sought explanation from Kabir, who then allegedly threatened him over phone. Singha lodged a complaint with the police against Kabit, but no action was taken. Apprehending that his life may be in danger, Singha moved the high court for police protection and transferring the probe against Kabir to CBI.
