"I will just say one thing there is a little difference between orange and red," said Bharati, when asked whether the Left was trying to fish in troubled waters by giving a strike call on the same day that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen for a nation wide strike.

Uma Bharati was alluding to the "orange" colour of the BJP flag, and the "red" of the Left parties.

The Left parties have always denied any association with the BJP.

The Samajwadi Party has joined hands with the Left on the issues of diesel price hike and foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail and will join the protest Sept 20.

The BJP Monday claimed that its call for a nation wide shutdown Sep 20 against the UPA government's decisions as well as corruption was getting spontaneous support of the people.
