"I am astonished that vital organs like the intestine, heart, gall bladder and kidneys were missing from the body of Sarabjit Singh. The forensic department of the Civil Hospital in Amritsar has observed this during the second autopsy," Banerjee said on a social networking site.

"As citizens of the country, we have a right to know the reaction of the government to this report. The central government must come out with the detailed statement on this issue so that every citizen of the world comes to know the truth," added Banerjee.

A board of Indian doctors who conducted a second post-mortem in Amritsar on Sarabjit said that the vital organs were missing from his body and the assault on him was carried on "with the motive to kill".

He was declared dead in Lahore's Jinnah Hospital early Thursday.
