"Mamata will be the natural choice to head the state government if Congress-Trinamool Congress comes to power," the leader of the state Congress Legislature Party Manas Bhuniya told PTI.

Stating that West Bengal witnessed a silent revolution in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections which saw the Left parties suffering its worst electoral defeat in three decades, he said, "I think that this will be a guiding factor to oust the CPI(M) in the 2011 state assembly polls."

In a letter to Mamata, the PCC general secretary, who till recently was a "bitter critic" of the TC chief, had said, "You deserve high respect from me and the people of Bengal because you have proved that the end of the era of the CPI(M) has started."
