95-year-old Basu was kept under full ventilation as a precautionary measure last night, though he was put on partial
ventilatory support in the daytime, Sushrut Bandopadhyay, who is on the medical board treating the leader at the private AMRI hospital in Kolkata, told reporters.

Bandopadhyay said Basu was fed through riles tube last night.

Presence of highly drug-resistant bacteria has been confirmed during a bronchoscopy.
