"The number of coolies has been dropping and it is inhuman too to bear headload. Considering this, the Railways will launch the Rail Sevak project likely from December 25 to supplement their work," railway minister Mamata Banerjee told reporters in Kolkata on Saturday.

The Rail sevaks, who would be given uniforms, would be below 40 years of age and be able to read and write, she said.

The Railways would tie up with the State Bank of India for the trolleys.
