The incident occurred on April 10, 2010 under Patharpratima police station in South 24-Parganas.

“We expressed dismay at the way the police handled the case. The victim while going to a relative’s place was accosted by two youths, Brijesh and Chandan Golui, who raped her. The police lodged a general diary instead of an FIR and threatened the family,” said Sujoy Haldar, joint secretary of WBHRC.

The victim’s parents took her to a doctor and the medical examination confirmed rape.
