Student bites cop at college fest

During an ongoing fest at Bangabashi College, a student suddenly bit a policeman, making a deep cut on his cheek. After the incident, the cop had to be hospitalised and received a few stitches. The incident took place at the auditorium at the College Street campus of Calcutta University

The incident took place at the auditorium at the College Street campus of Calcutta University where Bangabashi College students were celebrating their annual fest.

Suddenly, a scuffle broke out among the students of the college. On hearing the commotion, Raja Dhar, a constable of special branch posted at the university campus for several years, rushed to the spot and suddenly got bitten on his cheek by one of the students. Dhar was immediately rushed to the neighbouring Medical College and was then admitted to the police hospital where his wound had to be stitched.

While the culprit still remained untraced, no complaint was lodged with the university authorities.

Across the road at Presidency University, students held a referendum on whether they want to take part at the union election at a time when students who have below 60% class attendance are not being allowed to contest the upcoming elections.

Dhar was taken to the Medical College and Hospital where he was treated and later discharged. The police lodged a complaint against unknown persons at the Jorasanko police station. Sources in the police said that a few of the warring students were inebriated.
