The seventh season of the T20 cricket extravaganza is back. While this time around, the first few matches are being held in the UAE, the good news for cricket fans is that the tournament will return to India in May. And the Capital that’s rooting for their very own Delhi Daredevils (DD) team has already started hotting up with exciting deals across various segments — right from food and fitness to fashion.
Last season, incidentally, the T20 dates clashed with that of Navratra (nine days of puja when most people observe a no-alcohol and a vegetarian routine) leading to lesser footfall in restos airing live matches. However, this year is different. “This T20 season is scheduled at the start of the new academic session with no exam pressure, we are kicked about some good business,” says restaurateur Pranay Kumar.For foodies, there’s good news as a host of restaurants have lucrative offers. High-end French Pâtisserie L’Opéra has tagged 10 of their most expensive cakes as Delhi Daredevils Victorious Sweet Delights. "India is among the world’s top champions when it comes to cricket, so to celebrate this, the first 10 calls to L’Opera when DD wins a match, will get these special cakes free," says owner Laurent Samandari. At Dude Food, on every DD win, there’s 1+1 offer on everything on the menu, while Excuse Me Boss, CP, is offering a flat 50% off during the match hours. Barrels in Vasant Kunj will serve a round of vodka shots on the house when DD wins, and Shots & Tails will give free shots when an Indian cricketer takes a wicket.

So, while Kevin Pieterson Classic Buffalo Wings and Gayle Piri Piri chicken wings are some of the highlights at Roost Bistro, The Flying Saucer is serving free ‘Flying Shots’ named Virat Steamers and Yuvraj Heat on every wicket down. The menu at Pure Punjab, Khan Market, also includes dishes like Delhi Bhatti Da paneer, Mumbai Indians Subz Seekh and Bangalore Aloo Najakat.
