It’s the same old story every day — you skip breakfast because you’re running late for office, start working as soon as you punch in and ignore those hunger pangs. And come lunch time, you order greasy food from the neighbourhood deli and battle the post-lunch torpor by promising yourself that you will eat healthy tomorrow. Fortunately for you, there are some city entrepreneurs who can help you implement just that. With these healthy meal services, there is no excuse to wolf down that oily chowmein every day.

Bowl me over
Think healthy and the first meal that comes to mind is a salad. Mumbai-based meal company Bowls To You sends a bowlful of healthy greens right to your office, all month long. “We just started our monthly lunch plan 15 days back, but our website is still under construction,” says Brijesh Chheda, co-founder, Bowls To You. “We deliver through dabbawalas, so you can sign up if your office comes under their service area,” he adds. The company has a nutritionist on board and meals can be customised. Some of their customers have specific diet restrictions and they provide them with the nutrition that they require. “You can tell us your needs when you sign up and we’ll design your meals accordingly. Right now, we only have salads, but we’ll start a multi-cuisine menu when the website goes live sometime around Diwali,” says Chheda.

Don’t sugarcoat it
If you’re diabetic, you know how hard it is to order a healthy meal. City-based tiffin service Foodizm steps in to fill that gap. “We have diabetic vegetarian and non- vegetarian meals,” says Sai Gundewar, CEO, Foodizm. The company’s website lists a range of diabetes-friendly meals right from salads and soups to rolls, continental and Chinese dishes. “We cook following the basic guidelines for diabetic meals that patients have been advised to consume. We use less salt, oil, include non-starchy veggies, plenty of fibre and moderate carbs in our meals,” says Gundewar. “We have certified nutritionists and microbiologists to ensure that the meals are nutritious and fresh. We also have over 200 qualified chefs who design our recipes and menus.” The service is available from Colaba to Borivali with some areas in Powai included, for both workplaces and homes.
