Planning a Hong Kong trip for 2027? You might want to leave room for a Disney day. Hong Kong Disneyland is adding two big new experiences, giving travellers even more reason to spend a day at the park. The first is a brand new Pixar experience, expected to open in the first half of 2027. Created specifically for Hong Kong Disneyland, it will bring together five Pixar stories in one immersive experience, mixing physical spaces with digital elements.
There is also a new character to meet. Aria has been created especially for this experience and will join some of Pixar’s much-loved favourites. Then there is Poppy, a character made exclusively for Hong Kong Disneyland. That local touch gives the attraction a character of its own, rather than making it feel like something simply moved from another Disney park.
For Pixar fans, this could be one of the most interesting additions. Instead of sticking to one film, the experience brings five Pixar stories together, with familiar characters sharing the space with new faces.
Marvel is bringing the thrills.
If Pixar is all about stories and characters, Marvel is taking things up a notch. Hong Kong Disneyland is developing a new indoor drop tower attraction based around the Marvel universe. The experience will take guests through iconic Marvel worlds, including Asgard and Wakanda, with a few very sudden drops along the way.
The indoor format is a nice bonus for Hong Kong’s warmer months, but the real draw is the Marvel theme. Fans can expect an action-led experience that adds another serious thrill ride to the park.

Why 2027 could be a good time to visit
What makes these additions particularly interesting is that they have been created with Hong Kong Disneyland in mind. The Pixar experience is exclusive to the park and introduces original characters, while the new Marvel attraction adds another experience to the park’s growing Marvel lineup. For first-time visitors, there will be plenty to see. For those who have already been, the new attractions offer a reason to return.
And I can say this from experience. Hong Kong Disneyland is not the sort of place I would treat as a quick stop between shopping and dinner. It deserves a full day.
Pro tip: You really can do Disneyland in a day
My Hong Kong Disneyland visit was magical, but one thing I realised as a tourist was just how manageable the park can be if you time your visit right.
We went in November, outside the school holiday period, on a weekday. The weather was fantastic, and the park was fairly quiet. That made a huge difference. We could take our time, get on the rides without spending the entire day in queues and still experience the park properly.
The rides themselves are wonderfully interactive, and honestly, this was one of the most fun days I spent in Hong Kong.
My biggest tip? Skip the expensive taxi and take the MTR.
Hong Kong Disneyland is incredibly well connected. Take the metro from pretty much any part of the islands and get off at Sunny Bay. From there, follow the signs to the dedicated Disneyland Resort Line platform. The Disney train takes you straight to the park entrance.
And do not treat that train as just another part of the commute. The carriages are plush, fun and very much in keeping with the Disney theme. It sets the mood before you have even reached the park.
So, if you are planning Hong Kong in 2027, keep a full day aside for Disneyland. Go on a weekday, avoid the school holiday rush if you can, take the train and give yourself time to enjoy it. With Pixar bringing five stories and some new characters, and Marvel preparing a new thrill ride, 2027 could make an already fun Disney day even better.
