“The chappal would also save us from thorns that we might come across along our path of positivity and progress,” JJP leader and Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala said.Updated: Mar 16, 2019 09:57 IST
The recently floated Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has been allotted ‘chappal’ (footwear) as its poll symbol by the Election Commission.
This was disclosed by JJP leader and Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala on late Friday evening through his Facebook account during a 7-minute live address.
Dushyant said the party had given 10 options of symbols after getting registered with the EC and ‘chappal’ was one of them.
Stating that he was happy with this election symbol as ‘chappal’ symbolised the ‘khadaaun’ of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, his great grandfather. (Khadaun was the wooden footwear worn in old days).
“The chappal would also save us from thorns that we might come across along our path of positivity and progress,” he said.
Notably, the JJP was floated in December last year after the Haryana’s main opposition party Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala expelled his elder son and former MP Ajay Chautala and both his (Ajay’s) sons Dushayant and Digvijay five months ago.
Ajay and his father are currently serving a ten-year sentence in Delhi’s Tihar jail in the JBT teachers’ recruitment scam.
