100-kg charas seized, three held in Kanpur

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday seized 100-kg charas after intercepting a vehicle on a national highway in Kanpur district and arrested three persons in this connection.

The contraband, concealed in a specially-made cavity in the vehicle, was being smuggled from Nepal to Haryana, ADGP (Law and Order) Brij Lal told reporters in Lucknow.

Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force of the state police intercepted the vehicle at Maharajpur and seized 100-kg charas, he said.

The charas was packed in packets of one-kg each, the ADGP said.
