Burglars strike gold in Dalibagh house

Burglars continue to wreak havoc in the state capital. Thieves recently targeted the house of a senior officer of cultural department at posh Dalibagh government colony in Hazratganj.

Burglars continue to wreak havoc in the state capital. Thieves recently targeted the house of a senior officer of cultural department at posh Dalibagh government colony in Hazratganj. Several senior officers and journalists stay in the colony.

The police said the theft took place at the locked house of Vinay Kumar Srivastava, registration officer of culture department, between October 19 and 29. The officer along with his family was out of the city for 11 days during which thieves broke into the house and fled with cash and valuables over Rs. 4lakh.

The officer came to know about the incident when he returned home on Tuesday in the wee hours and lodged an FIR with the Hazratganj police station in this connection. He said, “We found lock of the main door broken and belongings were scattered inside when we returned home at around 1.30 am. The thieves took away gold and silver ornaments and around Rs. 30,000 cash kept in the almirah.”
