The central government would soon grant reservation to backward Muslims as promised in the 2009 election manifesto, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh said in Lucknow on Saturday.

He promised to implement it in Uttar Pradesh once Congress comes to power after the 2012 assembly elections.

Singh claimed Muslims were not getting the expected benefit under the backwards quota and so on the basis of 2013 caste based census, their separate quota would be fixed.
