The agency will probe police’s role, recommend action against erring officials, and file an affidavit against the brother and father of the main accused, Piyush Verma, for allegedly suppressing evidence.

Divya, who died on September 27, was sodomised and killed by a son of the owner of the school she went to, a forensic report has said.

In a report submitted to the CID, the forensic science lab of Lucknow has found Piyush, son of Chandra Pal Verma, who owns Bharti Gyan Sthali School, culpable.

The CID has charged Piyush with sodomy and murder. It also plans to drop charges against Munna Singh Lodhi, who was held guilty by the Kanpur police.

Investigation officer AK Singh said the male chromosomes of Piyush had matched the sperm stains found on Divya’s clothes.

Sources said the CID was preparing an outline of the final report.

The agency will be assisted by the Lucknow Forensic Lab in gathering evidence on the case.
