The teams also sensitised auto-rickshaw drivers against haphazard parking and sudden stops that lead to traffic snarls, mishaps and chaos on the city thoroughfares.

The team slapped fine on the drivers for overloading, not wearing uniform and not keeping their identity card.

SSP J Ravinder Goud said, “The drive began from Hazratganj main crossing, went past Qaiserbagh crossing and Engineering College crossing, which are notorious for traffic jams. Traffic chaos caused by auto-rickshaws parked haphazardly is a common scene at these points,” said the SSP and added, “The first day’s focus of the drive was on streamlining traffic, sensitising auto-drivers and restricting overloading. The teams would also focus on restricting speedy and reckless driving by the youngsters, which often leads to accidents”.

He said, “The main focus of course was making the drivers wear uniform and carry identity card. This practice would help in two ways - first it would discipline the drivers and secondly it would help curb crime incidents involving passengers.” Goud said the Khaki-clad violating traffic norms were also targeted during the drive.
