Union minister for Law and Justice Veerapa Moily on Sunday said that a system would be put in place to fast track the corruption cases in the next three months.
"We have written to the chief justices of 21 High Courts seeking details about the number of corruption cases pending in courts under their jurisdiction. We will get all the details within next three months and an order will be passed thereafter to fast track all these cases," said Moily while speaking to media persons at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) headquarters in Lucknow on Sunday.
Moily said that the corruption cases should be decided within a period of six months to one year. He also gave indications that all the courts dealing with criminal cases would be fast tracked. Moily said no legislation was required to convert the existing courts into fast track courts. "Any cases pending at any court will be fast tracked as no case should exceed three years," said Moily.
Moily said that a sum of Rs 20000 crore had been allocated to build the infrastructure for the judicial system. He said that various judicial reforms were underway. These included the measures to bring about the Right to Justice. Replying to a question about the vacancies in the High Courts Moily said that the process was delayed in view of appointment of the new chief justice. But this would be expedited in the next three to four months, he said.

{{/usCountry}}Moily said that the much awaited Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill to tackle judicial accountability would be brought soon. About the Women Reservation Bill he said that the same had been passed in Rajya Sabha and was pending with the Lok Sabha now. Replying to another question he said that the union minister for finance Pranab Mukerjee had convened a meeting of the leaders of various political parties to discuss the stalemate over the formation of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the 2G scam. He hoped some solution would be found in the meeting to ensure smooth functioning of parliament.
