Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav flagged off the cycle yatra from his residence on Thursday morning. Hundreds of SP cyclists joined the yatra and through Bakshi-Ka-Talab reached Sitapur, where they were joined by SP cyclists from those districts.

Akhilesh has asked the yatra members to go spread awareness on the SP government's achievements in one year.

The yatra is led by Ranjeet Bachchan and Kalindi Nirmal Sharma. The two have logged in seven years and ten months of travelling across Bhutan and 27 states and seven union territories of India. They have travelled over 1.32 lakh kilometres so far.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has asked all its office bearers to hold "grand events" and highlight the achievements of the government at all district headquarters on Friday.

In his message, Akhilesh Yadav has told them that despite poor economic conditions due to the five year "misrule" of BSP, the SP government tried to fulfil most of the promises it made in the party manifesto.
