As locals started to gather at the site, the learner, Mohibullah, took the boy to a local hospital. But when doctors declared the child dead, he allegedly made an attempt to put the body back on the ground. Angry locals started protesting and demanded compensation and arrest of the accused.

It was only after an assurance by the additional city magistrate-4 Neeta Yadav that the protestors moved away.

Karan, 10, the son of Santosh Kashyap, a rickshaw puller had gone to the fields on his bicycle where Mohibulla was learning driving. The accident occurred when the learner took the back gear and hit the bicycle of the boy. As the child screamed, the driver panicked and pressed the accelerator, seriously injuring Karan.

Mohibullah then picked up the boy and took him to a nearby hospital in his own car. However doctors declared him as dead. When he came back to the ground to find the parents and hand over the body, the locals gheraod and manhandled him. Someone also informed Aliganj police.

There was another person sitting on the side of the driver’s seat, who is believed to the trainer from whom Mohibulla was learning driving.
