The decision was taken in a meeting held in Mathura last night between the farmers' delegation & representatives from the government including state Agriculture minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan, Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and Principal Secretary to CM Netram.

"The talks were completely successful and ended with the assurance to the delegation regarding full cooperation of farmers under the construction of Yamuna Expressway", the release said.

The farmers of Mathura have been agitating over their demand for compensation for their land acquired under the project and other demands since last few days.

The government's policies for land acquisition are very clear and any decision regarding the same will be taken under the contract rules with the consent of farmers, the release said.

The farmers put forth their 14 demands before the government yesterday on which detailed discussions were held.

Over the demand for hike in compensation for the land acquired under the project, the ministers said since compensation has been given under contract rules, therefore additional compensation is not possible, but the concerning company which has acquired the land will give the assistance amount.
